The Death of Lorca

When writing for The Geek Initiative, I was the “official” review of the new Star Trek series, Star Trek Discovery. I wrote a review for each episode, and when sources came out that Captain Lorca would meet his death, I was quite angry.

Follow my reasoning here: Star Trek was always on the “right sight of things,” and here, we could tangibly feel that DISCO was about showing the dark side of The Federation, Starfleet and everything it implies.

A New Sci-Fi

“Universal law is for lackeys. Context is for Kings,” is a quote from Star Trek Discovery. It was said by one of my favorite Star Trek characters of all time despite its short live glory in the show, Captain Gabriel Lorca. It is an understatement to say it inspired my entire sci-fi series.

One Quote Is One Series

When the news of Star Trek Discovery hitting the small screen spread, I jumped on the occasion to be its reviewer for The Geek Initiative. Glued to my television every Thursday, I needed to see what would happen next. Of course, many thought the show to be too different than its predecessors and violated what it represented.

I watched it with an opened mind. I do understand why many trekkers disliked it just as well as I understood why it attracted newer and younger viewers. The look in itself was above and beyond any other Star Trek before and pushed the boundaries of what is used to be. The bold moves they made with the look of Klingons, and they dared stain Starfleet.
